Which one is the best stream to become an Air Hostess- Arts, Commerce or Science?

After publishing an article about air hostess training courses, I’ve been getting loads of queries from students who are interested in this profession. They have been asking about which stream would be best for becoming an air hostess. Students have three main streams available in front of them (after 10th) – Arts, Commerce and Science. They want to know which stream will be the most helpful, when it comes to becoming an air hostess. In this article, I will clear their doubts.

Air hostess streams

First of all, no particular stream has to be compulsorily pursued by students, in order to undergo air hostess or flight steward training! To be considered eligible to undergo air hostess training and become an air hostess or flight steward, one must be 10+2 passed (any stream) from a recognized board.

It is evident that 10+2 schooling is the minimum educational qualification required. Students from any stream – Arts, Commerce or Science are eligible to undergo air hostess training. So, when it comes to selecting a stream, you don’t have to worry much about your choice! Just select the stream that you’re comfortable dealing with! Assess your strengths and make an informed choice. Also check – air hostess courses after 12th & graduation.

10+2 is the minimum educational qualification required. But airlines do prefer graduates! Graduates possessing relevant degrees are often given an advantage, when it comes to air hostess recruitment or selection!

Graduates possessing Degrees in fields like aviation, travel management, tourism management, management etc are given preference. Keeping this fact in mind, air hostess or flight steward aspirants may pursue a relevant Bachelor’s Degree course! In such cases, it is better to select a stream (Arts, Commerce or Science) keeping the eligibility criteria of the Degree course you want to pursue in mind.

Possessing a Bachelor’s Degree will also help you after retiring from the service. An air hostess’s career is not very long. After attaining a certain age, he/she will have to retire. Possessing a Bachelor’s Degree will be of help, when it comes to rebuilding one’s career after this (relatively) early retirement.
