Hi students! In this post, I’ve listed down some of the best career options available after completing 12th Science stream.

12th standard is a very important point in a student’s life. It is at this point that his/her career starts taking shape!

 

The academic course that he/she chooses after 12th Science will play a huge role in determining the path of his/her career. For example, if a student pursues MBBS after 12th Science, he/she will go on to become a Doctor (most probably).

 

Similarly, if he/she pursues B.Sc. Forensic Science course, he/she will go on and become a Forensic professional (most probably).

 

11th and 12th class schooling comes under PUC or Senior Secondary level of Indian Education system. Indian students have various boards to choose from. For example – CBSE, ICSE, State Boards etc.

 

There are three notable streams, when it comes to PUC Schooling in India. They are –

  • Arts Stream
  • Commerce Stream
  • Science stream

Science stream can be classified into three main groups. They are –

  • Biology Group (PCB)
  • PCMB Group

 

Mathematics group is also known as PCM group. This group consists of subjects such as – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, IT, English etc.

 

Biology group is also known as PCB group. This group consists of subjects such as – Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English etc.

 

Some students choose to go forward with Mathematics and Biology subjects. This group is known as PCMB group.

 

Depending on the group that you choose, you will have access to a wide variety of careers! In short, there are loads of careers to choose from.

1 Agriculture

12th Science students have access to numerous agriculture courses. These professional courses will give you access to careers within the domain of agriculture. These courses will also help you get jobs in allied sectors such as dairy technology, horticulture etc.

  • B.Sc. Agriculture
  • B.Tech. Agriculture Engineering
  • Diploma in Agriculture

 

2 Architecture

If you want to become an Architect, you must pursue B.Arch. course. 12th Science stream students are eligible to pursue this course. PCM group students are eligible to pursue B.Arch. course.

 

3 Biotechnology

Biotechnology sector is growing at a healthy rate in India. This sector will generate ample amount of job opportunities in the future!

 

R&D, Food Processing, Health Science, Material Science – Biotechnology professionals are hired by the companies functioning in the following areas. Some of the notable Biotechnology courses in India are –

  • B.Sc. Biotechnology
  • B.Tech. Biotechnology Engineering

 

12th Science pass students are eligible to pursue these courses.

 

4 Biology

If you are interested in building a career in core biology sector, you may go for B.Sc. Biology course. You may specialize in this domain by pursuing relevant M.Sc. program after Graduation.

14 Medical (Doctor)

If you want to become a Doctor (Medical), you must pursue MBBS course. PCB group students are eligible to pursue this course. Some alternative courses are – BAMS, BHMS, BUMS etc. But these programs are not as valued as MBBS. Also check – Medical courses after 12th.

 

15 Nursing

If you want to become a Nurse, you must pursue B.Sc. Nursing course. Some alternative courses are – ANM, GNM, Diploma in Nursing Care Assistant etc. But these programs are not as valued as B.Sc. Nursing.

 

16 Physiotherapy

If you want to become a Physiotherapist, you may pursue BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) course. PCB group students are eligible to pursue this course.

 

An alternative course is Diploma in Physiotherapy course. But Diploma program is not as valued as BPT course.

 

17 Veterinary Science

If you want to become a Veterinary Doctor, you may pursue B.V.Sc. and AH course. It stands for Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.

 

18 Pharmacy

If you want to become a Pharmacist, you may pursue courses such as –

  • B.Pharm.
  • Diploma in Pharmacy
  • Pharm D

 

12th Science stream students are eligible to pursue all of the above mentioned pharmacy courses.
