Engineering alternatives

12th Science stream can be divided into two main groups. They are –

  • Mathematics Group (PCM subjects)
  • Biology Group (PCB subjects)

 

Some students opt for both Mathematics and Biology subjects. This choice is usually referred as PCMB group.

 

PCM students have loads of professional courses to choose from. Engineering is the most popular professional course among PCM students.

In order to secure admission to one such college, a candidate must score well in relevant engineering entrance exam (JEE, State level, College-wise etc). In such circumstances, many students do start looking for alternatives!

B.Arch.

B.Arch. stands for Bachelor of Architecture. It is a very popular choice among PCM students. It is a 5 years long academic program. The academic program consists of classroom lectures and practical sessions.

 

Diploma in Engineering courses

Apart from Degree in Engineering, PCM students also have access to Diploma in Engineering programs. Diploma courses are 3 years long. Some notable examples are –

Integrated law courses

LL.B. is a Master’s Degree course. You must have completed Bachelor’s Degree to pursue LL.B. However, there also exists integrated law programs, which you may pursue after completing 10+2!

  • B.Sc. + LL.B.
  • B.Com. + LL.B.

Commercial Pilot training

10+2 passed students (with PCM subjects) are eligible to pursue Commercial Pilot training. To secure admission, one must crack aptitude test and personal interview. The duration is not fixed since it depends upon the aptitude of the candidate.

 

Management courses

Management education is a very popular choice among Indian students. The good news is that lots of management courses have 10+2 as the minimum qualification required (in order to pursue it).

Other streams’ courses
