Education lays the foundation for a successful career. However, with the rising cost of education in India, many Indian students find it difficult to continue their study after passing Class 10 Board Exam. No matter how much hard working or meritorious they are, students are often forced to sacrifice their dream, due to the shortage of finance required to continue their higher studies.
Both the Government and many private organizations have introduced some scholarship schemes to support these students. The scholarships are offered based on the marks obtained at Class 10th Board exams. Also check – List of scholarships after 12th class in India.
There are some scholarships programs that conduct their own entrance exam to select the candidates who deserve this scholarship owing to their merit and who are actually in need of them. List of Scholarships after 10th in India (2024)
Following are the list of scholarship that students can apply to continue their higher studies after Class 10th.
1. Vidyadhan Scholarship
Vidyadhan Scholarship program is conducted by Sarojini Damodaran Foundation to support the higher education for students belonging to economically challenged families. Students are selected after completion of 10th grade through a series of selection process including tests and interviews.
The selected candidates will receive a scholarship for 2 years from the Foundation and on the continuation of scoring a good result will ensure that they receive a scholarship for pursuing their degree course as well.
The program has currently over 2800 students across states of – Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Telangana. Vidyadhan offers following scholarship programs-
- Andhra Pradesh Intermediate Program
- Gujarat Class 11th Program
- Karnataka Plus 2 Program
- Kerala Plus 2 Program
- Maharashtra 11th Standard Program
- Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Plus 1
- Telangana Intermediate Program
All these above-mentioned programs are limited to each state and students from one state cannot apply to the programs of other states. All these scholarship programs can be applied online after registering with students’ e-mail ID.
2. Siksha Abhiyan Scholarship
Siksha Abhiyan Scholarship is an online scholarship conducted by Modi Foundation and is offered only on tuition fees of the students. Based on the merit of the students, the scholarships offered ranges from 5% to 100% of fee waiver.
Students from Class 8 to Class 12 can apply for the Scholarship. Students who are awaiting their Board results can also apply. Students from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West UP can apply for the scholarship.
After the initial selection of the students based on the application, they are shortlisted for an interview with subject experts to decide on the category of scholarship they want to apply for.
However, the final selection for the scholarship is based on the results of Siksha Abhiyan Entrance Test that is conducted every year between February and October – November every year in different centers in selected states. The examination fee for Siksha Abhiyan Entrance Test is INR 400/-.
3. CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child
CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child aims to provide a scholarship for the meritorious Girl Students who are the only child of their parents. The eligibility criteria for the students are –
- Students should be single girl child of her parents
- Students should secure 60% or 6.2 CGPA or more grades in their Class X Examination
- Students who are studying Class XI and XII in CBSE affiliated schools
- Students whose tuition fees are not more than INR 1500/- per month during the academic year for class X and 10% enhancement for class XI and XII
Students can apply online for the scholarship with submitting her roll number and certificate number printed on the Class X mark sheet and uploading other required documents. Scholarships should be renewed for one year after successful completion of each other.
Renewal of scholarship also depends on the students scoring 50% or more that determine her promotion to next class. In case students change the school or course of study before its completion, they need want to have a prior approval from the Board for their renewal of scholarships.
4. All India Meritorious Scholarship
All India Meritorious Scholarship is an online scholarship where the students need to appear for an exam to get selected for the scholarship.
Students who have appeared their Board exam of both Class 10 and 12 are eligible to apply. Students pursuing their 11th and 12th standard can also apply. Students have to pay an application fee of INR 249/- at the time of registration.
There are two scholarship programs under All India Meritorious Scholarship – Merit-based scholarship and Need cum merit-based Scholarship. Selection for merit-based scholarship depends solely on test results and interview.
On the other hand, family income along with test results, board marks, and interview determines the selection of students for Need Cum Merit-based scholarship. A maximum of 124 candidates will be awarded scholarship with 62 students in each category.
However, the total number of selected candidates will be reduced proportionately if the total number of candidates is below the expected number of candidates.
5. Indian Oil Academic Scholarship
There are many categories of scholarship under Indian Oil Academic Scholarship that are awarded to students completing 10th Standard and above. Almost 2000 scholarships are awarded to students completing their 10th standard and the duration of this scholarship is for 2 years. Students get a scholarship of about INR 1000/- per month.
The eligibility criteria for the general student is to score at least 65% in their Class X Board Results, while the same for the students belonging to SC or ST or OBC category is 60% in their Board results. On the other hand, at least 50% marks is required for the person with a disability to be eligible for applying for this scholarship.
School students pursuing Class XI in schools recognized by State School Education Board / State Government / ICSE/ISC/CBSE / Central Government are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
6. Jio Scholarship
Jio Scholarship Program comes under the Corporate Social Responsibility of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited. Students can apply both online and offline for the scholarship. The students who are studying in State Board are required to score more than 70% while the students from the Central Board are required to score more than 85% to be eligible for applying for the scholarship. The scholarship amount is about INR 35000/- per year.
The main objective of introducing this scholarship is to provide financial support to the students who are facing difficulty in continuing their higher education owing to their economic condition. Students can collect the application forms from the nearby JIO offices and they are needed to submit the completed form filled with all the information before the last date of submission.
7. Saraswati Academy Scholarship
Saraswati Academy Scholarship offers various scholarship programs for the students completing their Class X Board Exam. Students pursuing their Class X can also apply for the Scholarship Program. Students who are studying in Class X, have to appear for Saraswati Academy Scholarship Test (SAST) and based on the results scored in SAST, their scholarship amount will vary from 30% of the tuition fee to 100% of the overall fee.
Students who are unable to score any rank in SAST can also avail the scholarship provided they have appeared for the Class X Board Exam and their application form must be uploaded before the declaration of Board Result. Students in this category can get a scholarship of about INR 15000/-.
There is another scholarship program offered by Saraswati Academy Scholarship under which students scoring 95% in Science Group and Mathematics in Class X Board result can get a scholarship amount of 100% of their tuition fees while students scoring 90% – 95% in Science Group and Mathematics can receive a scholarship amount of 60% of their tuition fees.
Centers will also conduct regular scholarship exams for the students who appeared for Class X Board exam but didn’t apply for SAST.
8. NCERT Scholarship
NCERT Scholarship aims to provide the talented students pursuing Class X with financial support to help them continue their higher studies. NCERT conducts Tests in two stages to select the candidates for the scholarship program. The first level of NCERT test is conducted by the Department of State Education Research and Training at the State Level.
While the second level of the test is conducted at National Level by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT). Students can fill up the application form online.
9. Post-Matric Scholarship
Post-Matric Scholarship is governed by the Union Territory/ State administration to offer a scholarship for the deserving candidates from the economically weaker section of the society.
The students are required to pass their Class X Board exam to be eligible for applying for the scholarship. Selected students get maintenance allowance, book allowance for pursuing distance courses and an additional allowance is provided to students with disabilities.
10. NISHKAM Scholarship Program
Nishkam scholarship program offers different categories of scholarship programs for needy and talented students to help them in pursuing higher education. With the help of Relief Committee of Greater New York, a scholarship of INR 12000/- to INR 24000/- is awarded to students from Class VII to XI.
The program covers students of Government and aided schools of Delhi and Shahabad. Applications are invited through schools listed under Nishkam and students are required to undergo a written test as well as an interview to secure the scholarship.
11. National Scholarship Exam
National Scholarship Exam is conducted by National Institute of Certified Education (NICE) that aims at helping students identifying their strengths and weaknesses through a self-assessment test. The scholarship exam test students’ knowledge of Mathematics, Science, English and General knowledge.
Students who rank in the First, Second and Third position receives a certain scholarship amount while the students ranking between 4th and 100th position receives a consolation prize.
Any student from Class V to Class XII of CBSE/ICSE/ SSC board can apply for the scholarship. Students can apply both online and offline for the exam. Students are required to pay an examination fee of INR 350 /- in the form of a demand draft.
12. Central Sponsored Schemes under Government of Himachal Pradesh
There are various scholarship programs under this scheme. Under Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme to SC Students and Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme to ST Students, students whose parents’ or guardians’ annual income doesn’t exceed INR 2,50,000/- are eligible for a full scholarship that includes Maintenance allowance and Compulsory Fee.
On the other hand, under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC Students, the eligibility criteria for students are that their parents’ or guardians’ income should not exceed INR 1,00,000/-.
Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for Economically Backward Classes is for students belonging to General Category and whose parents’ or guardians’ income should not exceed INR 100,000/- per annum.
Under Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme to students belonging to Minority Community, students whose parents’ or guardians’ income should not exceed INR 200,000/- per annum and who have received not less than 50% in their previous exam are eligible.
All the above-mentioned scholarship programs could be availed by students provided they are pursuing their studies in Government/ Government aided or Private Recognized institution as regular students.
13. State Sponsored Schemes under Government of Himachal Pradesh
Apart from Central sponsored Schemes, Himachal Pradesh Government has introduced many state-sponsored scholarship programs for the students. All the scholarship programs are awarded based on the merit of the students.
Under Dr. Ambedkar Medhavi Chattervriti Yojna Scheme, top 1000 meritorious student of Schedule Caste and top 1000 meritorious student of OBC category, declared in the Matric Examination conducted by Himachal Pradesh Board of Scool Education, are awarded scholarship.
Himachal Pradesh Board will provide a scholarship under Swami Vivekananda Utkrisht Chattervriti Yojana to top 2000 meritorious students of general category declared in the Class X Board results.
Under Thakur Sen Negi Utkrisht Chattervriti Yojna, top 100 meritorious boy students and top 100 meritorious girl students belonging to the Tribal community will be awarded.
Under Kalpana Chawla Chhatravriti Yojna, top 2000 meritorious girl students of 10+2 standard in all three study groups – Arts, Commerce, and Science will be awarded a scholarship amount of INR 15000/- per student per annum based on their passing ratio in each group. This merit list is provided by H.P Board of School Education.
14. Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test
Nationwide Education and Scholarship Test (NEST Junior) offers a scholarship for students between Class 9 and Class 12. Students passing out class 10th or appearing Class 11 can apply for both NEST Junior I & II.
Students are required to give an entrance exam to receive a cash reward of up to INR 50,000/-. Students can register online for the examination and can download the sample question paper from the official website.
15. Scholarships to the Disabled Students, Gujarat
Scholarship to the Disabled Students is introduced by Gujarat Government, to impart education to disabled children belonging to the economically weaker family by helping them to buy study material with the scholarship amount.
This will in turn help in the spreading of education among them by reducing their expenditure on education to a certain extent. The scholarship is applicable to students between Class I and Class XII. The eligibility criteria for students to avail this scholarship are-
- The percentage of the disability should not be less than 40%
- Students are required to score at least 40% in their last attempted exam
- Family income of the disabled students should not be more than INR 50,000
- Students must be a holder of Disability Identity card
Application forms for the scholarship are available at the beginning of every academic year at free of cost from District Social Security Officer. Students have to submit the forms to their respective schools along with the Disability Identity card, income certificate, and mark sheet.
16. Ryan Merit cum Means Scholarship
Ryan Merit cum Means Scholarship is applicable for students between Class VIII and XII. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to economically weak families.

Students who have received at least 80% in their last examination and whose family income is not more than INR 200,000 are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Total 10 students will be selected to be awarded this scholarship. Each scholar will receive an amount of INR 10,000/-.
17. Bighelp National Merit Scholarship
Bighelp National Merit Scholarship aims to help the meritorious students who have attended their 10th Grade in Government public school to continue their further higher educations. Application process opens every year during the month of May. The eligibility criteria of the students are –
- Students who received GPA of 9.8 or more or secured 98% or above marks in Class X exam
- Students’ whose family income is not more than INR 100,000/-
- Students’ studied in Z.P/ Municipal/ Government School in any state of India
