Certificate in Accounting Technicians: Basic Details

As the name suggests, this training program deals with the trade of accounting. Accounting trade falls under finance sector.

Certified Accounting Technician Course Details

 

Type of course

It is a certification program.

 

Duration

It is a short-term program. The training consists of different stages and levels. Duration of each stage has been provided below –

  • Foundation course (Entry level) part 1 – 200 hours of coaching and self-assessment (online and offline)
  • Competency level part 2 – 100 hours of computer training, training on filing returns, cost sheet preparation and self-assessment (online and offline)
  • Orientation program – 5 days
  • Internship – 45 days

 

Eligibility Criteria

Students who have passed 10th class may enroll for this program and continue 11th and 12th standard schooling while pursuing this training program. Candidates who have passed 12th class are also eligible to enroll for this program.

 

ICAI CAT Syllabus

Here are some of the important subjects present in the curriculum –

 

Foundation course (Entry level) part 1

  • Fundamentals of financial accounting
  • Applied business and industrial laws
  • Financial accounting
  • Statutory compliance

 

Competency Level part 2

  • Fundamentals of computers
  • Filing of statutory returns
  • Costing principles and preparation of costing statements
  • Orientation program

 

Study note for CAT program will be provided by the ICAI. No additional amount will be charged for it. Oral coaching can be obtained at regional councils/chapters/recognized oral coaching centers of ICAI present across India.

 

ICAI CAT Admission and Registration

Admission form and prospectus is available at Head Quarter, Regional Offices, Chapters and Recognized Oral Coaching Centers of ICAI present across India. Interested candidates have to fill up the application form and submit it along with identity card (present in the prospectus) to the coaching center from where he/she wants to obtain oral coaching. When the registration process is completed, candidates will obtain identity card and registration number.

 

Fees

ICAI charges 9800 INR for this training course. Other notable expenses include – exam fees (730 INR) and orientation program fees (500 INR).

 

Examination

CAT examination is conducted twice in a year by the ICAI. Online examination is conducted to evaluate applicants who have applied for foundation course. Similarly, online assessment test is carried out to evaluate competency level part 2 candidates.

After completing this course, you will be able to find work financial institutions, MNCs, offices etc. You may also choose the path of self-employment.
