List of medical courses after 12th Science

1 Medical & Dental courses

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th Science with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects are eligible to pursue MBBS & BDS programs. Apart from that, a candidate must also crack relevant medical entrance exam like the NEET to secure admission into a good medical or dental college.

Duration: MBBS – 5.5 years, BDS – 5 years. The duration mentioned here is inclusive of the internship period.

2 Alternative Medicine courses

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th Science with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects are eligible to pursue alternative medicine courses listed above.

Duration: BAMS – 5.5 years, BHMS – 5.5 years, BUMS – 5.5 years & BNYS – 5.5 years. The course duration provided here also includes the internship period.

3 Physiotherapy courses

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th Science with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects are eligible to apply for BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) admission. One must also crack relevant entrance exam to secure admission into a reputed physiotherapy college in India.

Duration: BPT course lasts for a period of 4.5 years. This duration also includes the mandatory internship period.

4 Nursing courses

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th Science with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects are eligible to pursue B.Sc. Nursing course.

• Candidates who have completed GNM program are eligible to pursue B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) program.
• Candidates who have passed 12^th standard or those who possess R.ANM certification are eligible to pursue GNM course.
• Candidates who have passed 12^th standard with science or arts stream subjects are eligible to pursue ANM course.

Duration: B.Sc. Nursing – 4 years, B.Sc. Nursing (PB) – 2 years, GNM – 3 years & ANM – 2 years.

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th Science with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects are eligible to pursue allied health sciences programs in India.

Duration: Most of the allied health care programs last for a period of 4 years (including internship period). Some of these courses even last for 4.5-5 years. On the other hand, courses like B.Sc. Physician Assistant & B.Sc. Psychology lasts for a period of just 3 years.

6 Veterinary & Fisheries Science courses

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th Science with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects are eligible to apply for B.V.Sc. & AH as well as B.F.Sc. admission in India. One must also crack relevant entrance examination to secure admission into a good college.

Duration: B.V.Sc. & AH – 5.5 years (includes the internship period), B.F.Sc. – 4 years.

7 Pharmacy courses

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th standard with science stream subjects are eligible to pursue B.Pharm. & Pharm D programs. To get admission into a good college, one must also take part in relevant entrance examination.

Duration: B.Pharm. – 4 years & Pharm D – 6 years.

8 Paramedical courses

Eligibility criteria: The minimum educational qualification required to pursue a diploma level paramedical course is – passed 10^th or 12^th standard from a recognized board. These criteria may vary slightly from one institute/course to another.

Duration: Generally, the course duration could be anywhere between 2 to 3 years.

9 B.Sc. courses

Eligibility criteria: Candidates who have passed 12^th Science with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects are eligible to pursue biology stream-based B.Sc. courses.

Duration: A general B.Sc. course is 3 years long. On the other hand, a B.Sc. (Hons) program lasts for a period of 4 years.
