Textile Engineering: An Introduction

Diploma in Textile Engineering: Course details

Diploma in Textile Engineering program is 3 years long. In case of most institutes, the academic program is divided into 6 semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of 6 months. Evaluation is carried out at the end of each semester.

Few institutes are also known to offer integrated course that covers Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree program (after completing Diploma)- Diploma + B.E./B.Tech. Textile Engineering.

Diploma in Textile Engineering course trains students in topics such as- textile processes, raw materials, textile equipment, chemistry, CAD, textile production, merchandising and marketing.

After completing Diploma in Textile Engineering program, one may go for Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Textile Engineering! In most Degree Engineering colleges, certain percentages of seats are reserved for Diploma certificate holders. This entry is known as the lateral entry. Diploma holders with good grade may make use of lateral entry and join B.E./B.Tech. Textile Engineering program’s 2nd academic year (directly). This way, Diploma holders may use the ‘DtoD’ switch and earn a Bachelor of Engineering/Technology Degree!
