Right after 10th, students are not eligible to pursue Bachelor’s Degree courses. This means that there are only two choices available in front of 10th passed students-

Note: Most of the reputed fashion design colleges and institutes are known to offer courses for 12th passed candidates. It should be noted that most fashion design courses from good colleges allow only 12th passed students to apply for admission. Very few colleges allow 10th passed candidates to pursue fashion design courses in India. Readers are advised to check the credibility and accreditation status of such colleges or institutes.

Alternative career paths for fashion design aspirants

As you can see, right after 10th, you won’t have much choices when it comes to courses. Also, most of the reputed fashion technology and design institutes have 10+2 as the minimum educational qualification required to secure an admission.


I suggest my readers to go for 11th and 12th schooling after 10th standard. After completing your 12th standard board examination, you will become eligible to pursue even better courses, such as- BFT (Bachelor of Fashion Technology), Bachelor of Fashion Communication, Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Fashion Merchandising etc.


These Bachelor’s Degree programs are much more valuable than the Diploma and Certificate programs, which you folks could pursue after 10th. Thus, if you ask me, I’d say that waiting for 2 more years after 10th and finishing 12th board examination will prove to be beneficial in the long run!
