Odisha Polytechnic TFW Scheme: Eligibility, Details & How to Apply

TFW stands for Tuition Fee Waiver. Under this scheme, the tuition fee is waived off by the Government. This scheme is applicable in Polytechnic education in Odisha state. In this article, you will find everything you need to know about Odisha Polytechnic TFW scheme.

All States in India have introduced TFW scheme in one capacity or another. In fact, this scheme is applicable in all colleges/institutes recognized by the AICTE. The main aim of this scheme is to provide affordable education to students who are from bad economic background. Under this scheme, the tuition fees is waived off. It doesn’t waive off other expenses such as hostel fees, library fees, exam fees etc.

Polytechnic Colleges in Odisha are recognized by the AICTE. Thus, according to the law, certain percentage of seats in each college in Odisha must be kept aside for TFW candidates.

Government Polytechnic colleges in Odisha are known to charge relatively lower tuition fees. In short, they are quite affordable for large sections of the society. But Private colleges are known to charge relatively higher fees. This makes them relatively expensive.

Due to financial crisis, many students in Odisha are forced to abandon their dream of pursuing technical courses. TFW scheme can solve this problem to an extent. This scheme takes the burden off of students and parents by waiving off the tuition fees.

This scheme is limited to domicile candidates who are permanent residents of Odisha. Students hailing from other states are not eligible to seek benefit of TFW scheme.
Only the tuition fees is waived off under this scheme. It doesn’t cover other expense such as – hostel and lodging, food, library, sports, transportation, exam fees etc.
How may seats are reserved under this scheme, you may ask. 5% of the sanctioned intake per course will be available for admissions under TFW scheme.

Eligibility criteria for TFW scheme

In order to be considered eligible for this scheme, you must be the son or daughter of parents whose annual income is less than 6,00,000 INR.
