Polytechnic colleges in Delhi are known to offer two types of Diploma programs –

Technical programs are Diploma in Engineering courses. Examples are – Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Civil Engineering and Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Such programs last for a period of 3 years.


Non-technical programs develop relevant soft skills and useful knowledge. Examples are – Diploma in Office Automation, Diploma in Commercial Practice, Diploma in Business Management etc. Depending upon the course, the duration could be 2-3 years.


There are two types of Polytechnic colleges in Delhi. They are –

  • Government colleges
  • Self Financed colleges


Government colleges are funded and operated by the State Government. The Government bears much of the expenses. This is the main reason why these institutes charge very low fees.


Self Financed colleges are managed and operated by trusts or educational organizations/bodies. They charge relatively higher fees. But most of these institutes provide scholarships to deserving candidates though.
