It is evident from the above table that KVPY exam consists of three streams. They are –

  • SA
  • SB
  • SX

 

These streams have been created on the basis of academic qualification of candidates applying for the exam. For example, SA stream is for students enrolled in 11th standard (science stream).

 

SB stream is for students enrolled in 12th standard (science stream). SX stream is for students enrolled in 1st year of relevant basic science undergraduate courses such as B.Sc., BS, integrated M.Sc. programs etc.

Physics: Application of Physics in day to day life, kinematics, laws of motion, work, energy and power, physical world and measurement, electromagnetic induction, thermodynamics, gravitation, sources of energy, reflection & refraction, magnetic effects of current.

 

Chemistry: Chemical reactions, basic concepts of chemistry, acids, bases and salts, carbon compounds, thermodynamics, metals and nonmetals, states of matter, environmental chemistry, periodic table and classification of elements.

 

Mathematics: Probability, polynomials, geometry, statistics, mathematical reasoning, real numbers, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, quadratic equations, surface area and volumes.

 

Biology: Environment studies, human physiology, heredity and evolution, life processes, plant physiology, reproduction, cell structure, cell function, diversity of living organisms, control and coordination in animals and plants.

 

The online aptitude test consists of two parts – part 1 and part 2. Here are the details –

Chemistry: Chemical reactions, thermodynamics, basic concepts of chemistry, acids, bases and salts, states of matter, metals and nonmetals, solid state, chemical kinetics, environmental chemistry, structure and bonding, alkenes, periodic table and classification of elements, electrochemistry, isolation of elements, surface chemistry, noble gases, dienes, cycloalkenes.

 

Mathematics: Calculus, probability, polynomials, real numbers, quadratic equations, coordinate geometry, relations and functions, mathematical reasoning, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, vectors and 3D geometry, evaluation of integrals, linear programming, trigonometric functions, vector algebra, analytical geometry in 2D, surface area and volumes.
